Anyway, pretty soon he’ll make the ironically named, White House his humble abode and start picking out ‘Welcome’ door mats for the front door; or maybe his Rayban wearing, earpiece flaunting, 9-mm piece cloaking and human shield ‘guardians’ could provide essential guidance in the matter.

Because he’s sure got more pressing matters to attend to while he’s occupying the Oval House, and efficient door mat selection apparently isn’t that important.  America’s quite ill health care system, a down-in-the-dumps realty sector, an economy with a bad report card, …yada yada yada and a stinky pile of due environmental-related legislation and promises to fulfill – maybe that’s when Greenpeace finally will stop renting panda costumes to protest in and disrupting  road and sea traffic.

To protect the incoming President, the Federal Reserve with a little help from the people down at the local mint, is funding a £300,000 (21.5 million Indian Rupees) Cadillac  - which if you ask me is a civilian and legal(?) version of the “stuff” you send to dethrone a psychotic dictator and suck the resulting ‘democratic’ nation dry of oil (Hmm.. Sound familiar Uncle Sam?).

Look at the graphic (Thanks John Lawson!). Get past that  smirk on the most important commodity in the vehicle. This big daddy in the world of limos definitely packs quite a deadly punch with far-from-standard tech.

Kevlar-reinforced tyres, an armor-plated gas tank, a little red ‘panic’ button for the big dude, . . .and a couple of all-American pump-action shotguns. Everything, but the kitchen sink.

Yeah, I agree with you. Its cool being President.

Nevertheless, Obama does have my blessings and best wishes. Not because, he’s my homie.

Not because he like M. Ali and Luther King broke invisible barriers and came out the other side victorious.Not because his dentist is real good. Not because I’m a Democrat. But because, he convinced those Americans and me that he was the right man to steer that dis-oriented and stumbling nation.

As the supporters cheer and pop champagne; some including myself are balancing anticipation and a hint of nervousness with our Bush-is-finally-gone joy.

Let’s hope he delivers on his promises. Let’s hope he does CHANGE things for the better.

An engineer is a person professionally engaged in a field of engineering. Engineers are concerned with developing economical and safe solutions to practical problems, by applying mathematics and scientific knowledge while considering technical constraints.

A person who knows a lot of stuff. A person to be admired for all that ‘stuff-knowing’. A person who might get a better chance in the world of Indian-arranged marriages and like such. A person who will certainly inherit a great career; ending their money-linked little niggles and not to forget, accomplish his/her dreams and aspirations in life.

2. Engineering

Something which some people in the country prepare real hard for, in high school to secure a chance to study. (By enormous contrast) Something which the majority of this “elite” herd of indiviuals own up large wads of ‘Gandhi paper’ to take up the usually family-forced opportunity.

Whatever debate we might come out of, the hard-line and absolute truth is this – There’s too many bloomin’ engineers running around the busy Indian fields, meadows, ghalli’s; you name it. They are quite simply everywhere just like – foul air, rude auto-rickshaw drivers and Hindustan Unilever-Pureit salesmen.

Enough with the comparisons.

Together with its medical counterpart, the respected Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS); resound in the mind, bellow from the tongue and tingle the heart of the military-like and fiendishly stereotypical parent of the Indian child.

Enough with the stereotypes.

What I am trying to “quietly” point out in this post, is the unfortunately polarized spectacles – the general Indian public use, to view the ancient and sacred art that is engineering.

It has built nations, established economies, raised societies, helped individuals and allowed man establish himself to where he is; in this insanely fast-paced, meticulously connected and 21^st century planet.

Enough with the achievements.

Most engineering grads and grad-to-be’s live in a state of why-did-i-take-this-up and always have had more fulfilling and alternate career ideas in their cram-before-exam craniums. It’s real depressing to be honest. Living something you didn’t want. You’ll get used to it “they say”. But, they don’t understand it’s a person’s life they are ignorantly commenting about.

Enough with the sentimental stuff.

In the long run, it’s the industry, universities and the whole ‘engineering heritage/legacy’ which suffer. You’ve typically got sub-standard, uninterested and quite simply, bored people hypocritically flaunting their degrees.

Enough with the suffering.

The very source of this problem is – the fact that Indians generally (not all) are very play-safe and conformist people. History books filled with stories of British torment and enslavement lay down reason for this fact.

Enough with the science and history.

It’s simple. We need less Indians parents denying future carpenters, hairdressers, comedians, ballet dancers, painters, musicians, potters, wine-makers, chefs, athletes, fashion designers, writers, hoteliers, game-designers, NGO activists, economists, public servants, etc. the opportunity to chase down their ambitions and break the devilish conformity.

What we need as a nation and a people on a whole; is the downright exorcism of this plague from our souls. Send the damn thing to hell.

The infamous Internet Explorer from BIG daddy Microsoft® must have rung a bell the second you read that bold text.

You know IE6. That innocent looking tool you use to check your mail, read the news,  book tickets, scan match scores, allow evil dudes to take control over your PC, allow your private data to be accessed more frequently that the local teashop down the road, get your browser start page hijacked, allow hassle-free installs of any form of mal-ware/ad-ware/spy-ware/scare-ware, reach the 1000 mark on your IE-crash counter, and other similar fun activities.

If your wondering – Why all the sudden contempt and hostility towards this common “harmless” everyday application, quietly nestled in your Operating System?

Well, I’ve been receiving complaints from credible “sources” about an inability to subscribe (by clicking the Strepsil-look-a-like button on the main page) to this fountain of information, i.e my blog

This issue was gravely disturbing. Many a cuppa’ later, the solution emerged out of the dark nothingness. Why not start bringing people to start using my beloved and most favorite browser of ‘em all – Firefox.

Ah Firefox. The very name brings back joyful and tearless web-surfing memories. This browser is more than a conglomerate of perfectly indented and symbiotic code. It’s a way of life for many.

Current statistical gibberish informs us, that IE is the most popular of the lot. For the gibberish and an amateur pie chart, go here.

After examining the evidence at hand, it saddens FFX (Firefox) fans such as myself. Forget the pie-chart for a second or two and read on.

FFX provides a kaleidoscope of very useful, simple and FREE add-ons; turning the Web 2.0 into one of those everyday your-touchphone-does-that? experiences. The internet is truly malleable and at your disposable – all because of that fox around the globe.

Sure, IE is sitting right there in your start menu with its beady blue eyes and familiar Microsoft® DNA. Sure, there are other third party browsers around – Opera, Chrome to choose from.

But, with its super stability, security, reliability, simplicity, <Paste other awesome adjectives here> and cool factor; why do many a sane humanoid sail the metaphorical ocean, the internet on a metaphorical ship-with-holes-in-the-side, Internet Explorer.

Firefox, for all the right reasons gets my seal of repute and recommendation.

2008. What a year. We’ve seen more than a few bad stuff happen.

Economies in recession. Countries at war. Earth’s getting even sicker. Children even hungrier. Hope is what keeps us humanoids going.

Lets pray for a better 2009 with more stuff to be ” ” about.
